The weather in Tucson this trip has been awesome until 2 days ago when the temperature plunged. Lots has been going on down here this year, we finally bought a condo here after coming for the past 15 years or so. We're in a golf course community so it's gotten harder to go out for those long rides when the course is right outside our balcony and calling my name.
We had a some work to do on the place since the previous owner decided to take all the appliances with them. Lucky for us Rude has been down here with us and somehow we managed to carry a stove, dishwaher, laundry machine, huge microwave and refridgerator(hardest by far) up to the our second floor place. We also had to have new carpet put in and completely furnish it. We loaded the truck up at Ikea and spend two days building furniture and now have a very comfortable winter training compound. I also had to do some water heater maintance and a few other things to get us going.
I just finished my first three weeks of base training, I have a short break for a few days and my next three week block will be my biggest volume training of the year. I will ride almost as many hours in the next three weeks as they do in the Tour de France, not quite the same mileage or intensity though.
The weather has been awesome up until a few days ago when we got a artic blast. Yesterday and today we broke the record low temperatures here in Tucson by 15 degrees each day. At least I haven't had to ride in this fridged weather and tomorrow it's suppose to get warm again. It has been good for actually getting stuff done which I always seem to put off when it's nice outside.
In addtion to riding, I've been doing a little bit of running, blasting myself in the weight room at Power and Physique Human Perfromance Center(love that name, Human Performance) and playing as much golf as possible at my new course at Starr Pass http://www.jwmarriottstarrpass.com/Arizona-Golf-Resort/Starr-Pass-4.html Meg has been taking care of Rude and I by doing all the shopping, cooking, cleaning and basically everything else. She's been awesome.
I was hoping to post some pictures but I left my camera in the car and dont' have much to put up anyway. Today Meg, Winston and I went for a run and took advantage of the tennis court here to work on our game. We're not very good but tennis is a blast.
Sunday I'm going out to Marin for http://dirtroll.org/event/dirtroll/ highschool fundraiser ride. It looks like it's going to 70 degrees, sunny and the trails are going to be awesome. If you're in the area please come out and support high school mountainbike racing.
It was fun watching the remainder of the CX season from the comfort of my living room. The internet is amazing and the race coverage has been off the charts. It's cool to see the races in real time or just catch the last 2 laps right after the race.
I don't get what's going on with the Contador case. Either the guy took the Clenbuterol intentionally and should be punished for a minium of 2 years or he unknowingly ate tained meat and shouldn't be suspended at all but 1 year doesn't make any sense to me.
Meg and I are getting ready to go someplace so I stop eating all the food in the house.
I wonder what Gullys' doing right now......
