I'm into my 5th week of a 6 week base block. I have 10 more days of long rides to go before I get a break and start doing some intensity. Here is a ride I did today for the first time ever.
I didn't quite make it all the way back home and Meg had to come pick me up. I wasn't too tired but after being out for 6 hours already, I didn't think I needed anymore time on the bike today. This ride has about 40 miles of dirt and was pretty cool.
Other then training a ton, not too much else has been going on lately. I got to spend some time with the Zipp guys last week since they were in town for a few days. I have also been hitting the gym twice a week, Power and Physique. I love this time of year, I train like a mad man and get super tired but I feel like I see actual results. My body transforms with tons of long miles and hard gym work outs. I'm in the middle of digging a big hole but it all works out later on in the year.
My new 2011 Tarmac SL3 showed up last week and Miron built her up as soon as she got here. These road bikes are incredible and feel like they go all on their own.
While it has been snowy all over the country it is HOT down here right now. It's been in the 80s the past couple of days. When you're only climbing on an exposed MTB trail at a few miles an hour it feels like you're baking in an oven right now. I have been going through the sunscreen. I think Coppertone Sport is the best I've found so far for being sweat proof since I sweat a lot!
I have also been going through the Mad Alchemy chamios creme. I feel like it takes me just as long to get ready for riding in the heat as it does for the cold after I apply all these creams.
Yesterday I stopped by the Cookie Cabin on top of Mount Lemmon. The cookies up there are giant, warm and delicious. It is worth the ride to the top for one of those incredible creations.
Winston is being tormented by the javelinas that roam the complex. He thinks he's tough but one of those desert pigs would have their way with him for sure.
I wonder what the Darts' doing ......
