2010 is in the books and it was a great year. I'm hoping 2011 is even better. It has started out cold here in Durango with the thermometer saying -8 F when we got home last night. It hasn't warmed up much yet today either, might hit 20 though by the afternoon.
Meg and I did our annul Mexico trip right after Cross Nationals this year. We have driven down there for the past 5 years but decided to fly this year and leave Winston at Camp Doug's. Since Winston is always wearing a black fur coat he doesn't really like the beach that much anyway.
Myles and Willow flew down with us to San Pancho for a week and we had an awesome time. The weather was perfect, we had some good laughs and thawed out a bit. Myles quickly adapted to laid back scene.
Once they left Rude, Kricket, Mom and Dad showed up for the rest of the time. We had Christmas with the family, ate a lot of tacos and drank too many beverages. It was the perfect trip.
We had some good sunsets but no "Green Flashes"
It seems like with out fail when we leave Durango for Mexico it snows and this year was no different. We left with 2 inches of fresh snow on the ground but we flew back home in a blizzard with over a foot on the ground and freezing temperatures. I went from carrying lawn chairs and umbrellas to the beach to shoveling my roof. The plane had to circle for 30 minutes when we got to Durango because they had to re-plow the runway since it was snowing so hard.
Last night was the first time we stayed awake for New Years even since we started going to Mexico for vacation. Usually we sit on the beach all day and can't seem to stay awake until midnight. Since we came back to Durango early this year we actually had something to do so it was no problem to stay awake. It was also our friend Heather's, going away party so we welcomed in the New Year and gave her the boot.
Snoodle arrived back in town last night too after being on the east coast for 6 weeks and Meg was trying to stay warm.
Heather's sister Brook and Seb were also out for the evening.
Willow was in mourning since Heather is one of her BFs.
I'm hoping to take more pictures in 2011 since 2010 was such a great year but I don't have my photos of it. I think I'm doing pretty well so far.
It looks like the Christmas/New Years week of Belgium Cross races have been awesome this year. Lots of mud, snow and rad courses. I'm hoping to maybe race that week or two over there next year to build up for US Nats since it has moved to a later date. That is a long way off though and I'm just looking forward to training again in a few weeks down in Tucson.
I wonder what the Dart is doing right now.....
